With real-life connections Ellen connects each bit to real experiences so the audience can relate to each story. She touches on something that everyone can identify with, from the obligatory gay joke, procrastination, the fashion statements of celebrities, the ironies of public cell phone use, airline etiquette, self-esteem, and time saving catastrophes. When the listeners can relate and personally understand what is being said, the jokes become that much more intensified. This one connection is probably the reason that Here and Now is so funny to my friends and me. Everything the Ellen talks about happens so much in everyday life that there is almost never a day when one of these events happens and causes us to think about this show.

This connection is further enhanced by what I term the Flow Connection.
