Y Pen Bas / Y Pen Dwfn
(The Shallow End / The Deep End)

A work for television that meditates on the colonial - bringing together the historical events surrounding the flooding of a valley and its community in north Wales by Liverpool Corporation, and the story of Robinson Crusoe and Man Friday. Once again, the work investigates the impossibility of television’s ‘architectures’ - with two worlds meeting on screen - one underwater with ‘drowned’ performers, the other above water - with ‘Robinson’ on his island. Y Pen Bas / Y Pen Dwfn employs this internal structure as an architectural metaphor for the fractured internal relationships with the ‘Colonial’.
