My name's Robert Crook, I'm a freshman, and I'm planning on majoring in English and possibly minoring in archaeology. I attended a lecture by Professor Shanks on Stonehenge during Admit Week and I knew I wanted to take take one of his classes ASAP, so here I am. It's been great so far and I'm sure it will only get better.
My project......well, I'm not quite sure what I want to do. The lectures about the pyramids at Giza and their function in an "invisible machine" reminded me, for one reason or another, of Disney World. Perhaps I could cover the Epcot globe? Disney World is interesting in that it genuinely is a world inside a world--that is, there's the sort of pseudo-reality that is the "resort" itself, and then there's its place in the "real world."
I'll keep thinking about it......

Michael Shanks: do you know much about the globe - could you find out - mwould be fascinating - real and virtual worlds, projects of world-building, utopias, media fantasies, as well as the particular experiences engineered by Disney ...
I have some gneral literarture on this kind of thing if you can get some particular information about Epcot

Robert Crook: Any literature you can offer would be greatly appreciated. It's pretty easy to come by specific information about the globe.
