In year one of
Performing Presence (2005-6), three of six extended documentations of the development of work by artists working across a range of media and technologies will be initiated through the Collaboratory. These documentations will range widely in their form, duration, focus and outcome. Each documentation will be formed in negotiation with an ongoing process.
This page provides a starting point for a discussion of how to document these processes through the Collaboratory.
Aim:
- to create an evolving document that explores concepts or practices of presence in relation to the development or installation of a work
Materials:
Emphasis:
- the relationship between distinct, ongoing processes in time (a working process, a doing in time: a recording and representation, a marking of time)
- developing methodologies that respond and change in response to the formation of work (a process)
Methods:
- tracking decisions made (and remade or corrected)
- evidencing materials used (and changed or left behind)
- emphasizing locality (where and when decisions are made or processes occur)
- mapping time (the timeline of the work, but also the respective durations of a working process, documentation and realisation)
- announcing and tracking the editorial process
